La Junta Falls To Alamosa On Walk-Off





The La Junta Tigers fell to Alamosa 9-8 on Saturday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at eight with Alamosa batting in the bottom of the seventh when Kasey Jones singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Steven Salas collected four hits in defeat. Salas doubled in the first, homered in the second, singled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh.

La Junta got things moving in the first inning. Salas doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

La Junta scored four runs in the second inning. They scored their runs on a home run by Salas.

Alamosa scored three runs in the sixth inning. Alamosa's big inning was driven by a walk by Tracen Rothermich, an error on a ball put in play by Grady West, and a double by Michael Madril.

Rothermich got the start for Alamosa. The pitcher allowed six hits and six runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two.

Luke Garner led things off on the hill for La Junta. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out four. Salas threw two innings in relief.

La Junta socked one home run on the day. Salas had a four bagger in the second inning.

La Junta had 13 hits in the game. Salas, Tyler Malden, and Anthony Torrez all managed multiple hits for La Junta. Salas led La Junta with four hits in five at bats.

Alamosa racked up six hits. West and Donovan Romero all collected multiple hits for Alamosa. Alamosa tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Evan Sowards led the way with two.
