Road Work to Slow Traffic on Highway 194

Expect some hefty slow downs if Highway 194 is your usual drive. Starting at Cheraw hill on highway 194 at the Bent-Otero county line, CDOT crews will be out chip sealing the highway. Expect reduced speeds and lane closures. One listener told KBLJ news that she waited for 15 minutes once stopped. If you’re westbound on the highway and your destination is La Junta, you can go straight west onto the dirt road, county road HH which continues west to Highway 109. At this point you can then head south into La Junta. The Colorado Department of Transportation is doing the repairs from the Bent-Otero county line to just west of Bent’s Fort. Work will be daily this week from 6:30AM until 5PM.
