Rocky Ford Schools Are Awarded a Grant
(Rocky Ford, CO) -- Rocky Ford received a BEST grant for 40-million dollars to build a new preschool through eighth grade building and to fix up the high school.
The district reports their project was graded as the second highest priority in the state. Rocky Ford will be required to match the funds with more than seven and a half million dollars. Under the project, a new library and auxiliary gym would also be built. There would be safety measures as well such as securing the entrance to the school and adding an alarm system. The old Washington Primary school and Jefferson Intermediate would also be torn down so that there wouldn’t be community issues from vacant buildings. There will be community meetings planned for this summer starting in July.
