Educators and Community leaders and businesses came together this past year in Southeast Colorado to teach kids how to solve real world problems. Santa Fe Trail Boces hosted the forum last week where teachers got together to discuss some things that worked well and some that needed a little adjustment. La Junta, Las Animas, Wiley and Cheraw were some of those taking part. Mr. Hall at Cheraw talked about his group of students who tried to help state government solve budget problems. Mrs. Howe who teaches fifth grade at Las Animas teamed up with Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Steve Keefer to try and address the issue with wildlife on private lands. The program will return to area schools next year. The idea is to connect kids with the outside working world with business partners who will help them learn how to solve real world problems.
